Meta Launches New Content Protection Tool for Facebook Creators

Breaking news: Meta is rolling out a new content protection feature for Facebook creators — a mobile tool designed to detect when someone posts your original Reels without permission.

According to Meta, this update is part of their effort to help original creators stand out instead of being buried by copycats.

What the new tool does 🔍

Creators will now be able to:
• get alerts when their Reels appear on other accounts
• block the stolen Reel across both Facebook and Instagram
• track the performance of reposted videos
• add attribution links so viewers can see who the real creator is

The system uses the same matching tech as Rights Manager and shows match percentage, views, follower count, and monetization status for every detected copy.

Creators can also set up an “allow list” for trusted accounts so their content isn’t flagged accidentally.

• Facebook creators in the Content Monetization program
• creators who meet Meta’s originality & integrity standards
• Rights Manager users (rolling out gradually)

Access appears in the Professional Dashboard under “Content Protection,” and creators can apply if they don’t have it yet.

Right now, the tool is mobile-only, but Meta is testing a desktop version.
