Torrent Site H33t Blocked After Legal Action from Universal Music

The torrent platform H33t is currently offline following a successful legal move by the German branch of Universal Music Group. The company obtained a temporary injunction after discovering that Robin Thicke’s album Blurred Lines was being shared illegally on the site.

H33t, known for offering free downloads of music, films, software, and ebooks, has long been under scrutiny for hosting copyrighted content without authorization — fueling the ongoing battle between piracy platforms and rights holders.

The site’s owner, known as Shelby, previously claimed he would remove infringing content — but only in exchange for a fee to cover administrative costs. He has agreed to appear in court to challenge the domain seizure, stating that his goal is to promote a fair, cost-sharing model for takedowns.

"This is a test of how takedowns could work. I want the court to hear my proposal for managing them fairly", Shelby said.

Because DMCA rules only apply within the U.S., global enforcement remains patchy. However, both domains h33t.com and h33t.eu are now offline as legal pressure mounts.
